Petra Power Headquarters

Founded in 2017, Petra Power began operating from the BRITE Energy Incubator in Warren the following year. As one of BRITE’s early portfolio companies to outgrow the incubator, Petra Power faced a challenge common to successful startups: finding the specialized space and infrastructure needed for its next stage of growth.

Rather than taking that growth to another market, Petra Power committed its headquarters and expanding manufacturing presence to Northeast Ohio. A federal contract awarded to the company in 2022 provided another opportunity to advance its technology and increase its manufacturing capabilities in the region.

Tipping Point worked alongside Petra Power, the City of Solon, the property owners, brokerage team, designers, engineers, and contractors to develop a facility capable of supporting advanced manufacturing and clean-energy technology. The space required more than a traditional office or warehouse, including appropriate ceiling heights, significant power infrastructure, loading capabilities, clean-room space, and wet labs.

That collaboration gave Petra Power the specialized environment it needed while demonstrating how economic development, private partners, and growing companies can work together to keep innovation and investment within Northeast Ohio.

The impact extends beyond the facility itself. Petra Power projected the expansion would create 15 to 20 jobs within two years and generate approximately $2.2 million in additional local payroll.

For Tipping Point, the project represents what can happen when the right partners align around a growing company. Instead of forcing Petra Power to look elsewhere for its next stage of growth, the process helped create the conditions for the company to continue building its future in the region where it started.
